This past October I debuted a two night public show in Reno. The show was so popular on Friday that guests bought tickets to come back for the Saturday show. I wanted to give them something different without creating an entirely new show. Saturday morning I looked through my set and decided to add in a lightbulb routine and change up my Pick Any Number.
Pick Any Number is one my favorites because it is just plain impossible. I ask someone to pick a number between 1 and 52 and then have them take a deck and deal down to that number. The card they selected is then revealed in a very special way. You can watch Pick Any Number HERE.
But how do you change something that in my mind is already perfect? I thought of a close-up trick that I have been performing for the past 10 years called Airtight by Jay Sankey. If you haven't seen Jay's material, check him out HERE, you wont be disappointed. In a nutshell Airtight is a signed card in balloon. I should use a balloon!
After contacting my local party store and experimenting around with a handful of sizes, I came up with a new way of performing Pick Any Number. Throughout the show they pass around this gigantic balloon and have no idea what will come later. The reactions were better than Friday night and I plan on using it my second show from now on. It's important to always question "What can be changed and what can I do better?"
