Many of you that follow this blog have already emailed me asking why I haven't put out a post in over a week. Well let me first say I'm sorry, as it was not my intention. And thank you for caring so much to email me, I really appreciate it.
Last Thursday I was working on hanging some large glass orbs in our sunroom. I was drilling a hole in the ceiling when the drill bit broke, my hand slipped, and the drill came around and slammed into the back of my hand. Ouch! Unfortunately I had to cancel my show that night, but performed the next day at The Waterfall and a show on Saturday. Even though I was in pain I focused on the magic and gave people a show they wouldn't forget!
I wasn't sure if I had broken my hand or just bruised it really bad. I decided to wait a few days to see how my hand reacted to performing and a few days rest. After a couple days I didn't like what I saw...my hand was puffy and starting to turn purple.
Off to the doctors I went and they ran some x-rays on my hand. I broke my 4th metacarpal! The good news is I don’t need surgery due to the fact that I didn’t break anything else. When you break more than one metacarpal you usually need to have surgery.
Knowing that I perform, they set me up with a removable splint that I can keep on when I am not performing. When I am ready to perform I simply slide off the splint and put it back on when I am done. The doc said as long as I don’t fall or bang my hand it should heal without any complications.
Thanks for following along on my journey and talk later my friends!
